Diamonds Made by Sunlight

A truly responsible Diamond

Are Solar Diamonds as strong as natural diamonds?

Yes, a Solar Diamond has identical chemical properties and characteristics to a natural diamond and will last with the same durability over time.

Are Solar Diamonds rare?

According to our research, Solar Diamonds and other lab-grown diamonds that are grown using fully renewable natural sources of energy including wind and hydro power make up less than 5% of the total offering on the market currently. We are proud to be at the forefront of sharing the true green potential of this scientific advancement with our customers.

How do their prices and value compare to mined diamonds?

We recognise that the pressure and expectation around engagement rings can tarnish what should be a period of pure joy for a happy couple. Therefore we are committed to always finding ways to offer exceptional value without compromising on quality. Due to their lab-grown production and our direct-to-consumer supply chain we are thrilled to be able to offer Solar Diamonds at between half and a quarter of the price of the same carat and quality mined diamond.

By sourcing a responsible alternative we are able to undercut the mined diamond industry by as much as 4x, whilst providing you with the same level of luxury fine jewellery.

Why GH VS quality?

We have always used G/H colour and VS clarity diamonds in line with other luxury jewellery houses as it’s the best combination C’s to have a beautiful, colourless Diamond with no visible inclusions that still gives good value for money rather than spending part of your budget on quality factors that will never be seen with the naked eye.

"This is what the next generation of diamond jewellery looks like."

Fenton & Solar Diamonds

HOW ARE SOLAR DIAMONDS DIFFERENT TO LAB-GROWN?

Solar Diamonds and lab-grown Diamonds are both created in a laboratory setting using either intense pressure or intense heat to create a Diamond in a matter of days and months rather than over many years. The key difference is that whilst most lab diamonds do not necessarily disclose the source of energy they use, with Solar Diamonds you can be assured that your Diamond was grown using only fully sustainable and renewable energy sources. We believe that Diamonds from a preferred provenance and limited supply such as Solar Diamonds will prove a better source of retained value than the majority of lab grown diamonds in years to come.

Are mined diamonds bad/are Fenton opposed to natural diamonds?

Unlike natural gemstones and Diamonds, Solar Diamonds are created using a scientific process under laboratory conditions that are powered by solar energy and sunlight rather than being mined from the earth. This has various different advantages and disadvantages in terms of responsible sourcing. Whilst Solar Diamonds have no carbon footprint and do not disturb the environment, they also do not create the same local beneficiation that natural mined gemstones and Diamonds do in the communities that make a living from sourcing them.

We will continue to offer responsibly sourced natural gemstones and Diamonds that meet our rigorous standards for ethical production.

Which countries do you source from?

We source directly from suppliers in India, the US and Israel.

Why do you use ct weight instead of names like ‘Original’?

We talk about our Solar Diamonds in terms of carat weight instead of mm dimensions as it is an industry standard, which makes it easier for our customers to compare us directly with other brands if they so choose. Coloured gemstones are cut by hand, meaning they will often have the same length and width but a different depth, resulting in a different carat weight altogether. This results in carat weights being a confusing comparable metric. Diamond carat weights on other other hand are easier to compare.
