With a little bit of regular care, your Fenton ring will remain secure and sparkly for generations to come.
The best way to clean your ring on a day to day basis is with water and a soft brush.
Examine your ring settings regularly to make sure the prongs are snug fitting and the gemstone(s) are secure. Although gemstones are durable natural materials, they are vulnerable to impact exposure. Even the strongest stones can break if you hit them hard enough, or at the wrong angle, so it is best to wear them gently and store them safely.

To preserve your heirloom piece, we recommend removing it before any activities where it may come into contact with chemicals or substances.
These include but are not limited to:
- Household activities such as gardening, cooking and cleaning, as heat, bleach and cleaners can cause damage to both precious metals and gemstones.
- Wearing jewellery to the beach, swimming pool or jacuzzi, where chlorine can harm your gemstone and metal.
- Exercising and sports.
- Using lotions, hair products and cosmetics.
- Take care around lifting heavy objects so not to knock or catch your jewellery.
We recommend to avoid stacking 18K gold against other metals such as platinum jewellery, as the constant contact could damage the softer 18K gold.
We advise you to remove your jewellery when you sleep. Keep it in its own box away from other polished gold and platinum surfaces which may scratch it.
Emerald and aquamarine specific warnings and care
Emeralds and aquamarines are from the same gemstone family and both require delicate treatment.
Do not expose your gemstone to intense heat (over 60°c) and also avoid situations where there will be a dramatic temperature changes, such as going from the freezer to a boiling pan. Try to keep your gemstone away from dish-washing water, any chemicals or body creams as they may strip out the oil that naturally exists within your gemstone, which will reduce clarity.
Wash these gemstones in lukewarm water with no soap additives (that could dissolve the oil) and a soft toothbrush, then dry them with a lint-free soft cloth

We only source from the top 10% of natural gemstones. We select gemstones that are visually compared against masterstones that we have chosen, to ensure that the colour of these natural products are as closely matching to the depicted gemstone colours on our website as possible. We look for stones that are evenly saturated and that are transparent, or translucent and cut it (using reasonable care and skill) to give them brilliance. All gemstones will have some clarity characteristics that may be visible to the naked eye. We generally avoid gemstones with black inclusions and with surface reaching fissures.

Precious gemstones are unique and individual creations of nature. Some gemstone varieties, such as rubies and sapphires, are not exclusively found in one location, but are available in several different deposits around the globe. Each deposit has its own specific geological formation and characteristics and in each of these deposits the concentration of the "colouring elements" is slightly different from the next. Even rubies from the same source deposit (mine) can have a different colour, or hue and it is therefore understandable that colour-matched colour gemstones command a higher price, as a larger quantity of gemstones has to get produced and assorted to create a perfectly matched set (such as those we use for our Garland Rings).

When we are sourcing the gemstones that we use in our engagement rings, we travel with a set of masterstones, which we have selected to represent our level of quality. These masterstones serve as limit samples to benchmark each new gemstone purchased against the established standard. While we allow a small variation of colour intensity and saturation (since we are dealing with a natural product), we are making sure, that our colour selection is aligned to the gemstone colour, which is shown on our website, as much as possible. However, it must be noted here that "colour is virtually in the eye of the beholder", meaning that each human being has a unique set and quantity of colour receptors in their eye, and colour perception is therefore subjective. The perception of colour is furthermore affected by the presence and quality of light. For instance, different digital devices feature different monitor and screen technology to display colour and a bright back-lit desktop screen will show the same picture in a different colour than a small LCD screen on a mobile phone. Therefore the colour gemstone that you have received from Fenton might look slightly different in colour than that of the picture you have seen online.

We select each of our gemstones based on a large number of contributing factors, of which size is one. Gemstones of this size and quality are often not cut in exact calibrated sizes (8x6mm, 9x7mm etc) so there might be some slight variances in the mm size of your gemstone. All gemstones will be closest to the stated size with a tolerance of up to +-0.3mm. We are always happy to provide exact dimensions upon request.

Fenton only works with natural colour gemstones that are treated in a way which follows the highest jewellery and gemstone industry standards.
Our precious stones will often be heat-treated, which improves the colour intensity of a gemstone. Some of our emeralds have been clarity enhanced by having been treated with a colourless oil, which does not distort the colour. We consider this to be the only acceptable treatment, given that this does not jeopardise the long-term stability of your gemstone. Should you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us as we can always source upon your requests (please note this may have an impact on the price of your ring vs. stated on the website).

All our engagement rings are manufactured in 18K gold, or in 950 Platinum. The purity of our rings are guaranteed by the hallmark of the British Government, that checks and verifies the metal purity of each and every Fenton engagement ring. Unless specifically stated otherwise, our expertly cut diamonds are of G-H colour grade and of VS clarity. The diamond weights stated on our website are minimum weights (there are no negative weight tolerances).

Insuring your investment
Insuring your investment
We recommend to insure your Fenton Jewellery so that it is properly covered, in the event of theft or loss.
You can add jewellery to your home contents insurance, or buy a separate policy for it. If the latter, then please quote AL184T directly with our partner TH March for a preferential rate.
Although home-owner’s and renter’s policies will in most cases cover a portion of your loss, it is often a small amount in comparison to the original cost of an engagement ring or wedding band. We advise to find out how much is covered by the policies you have in place, to ensure it’s adequate.
Your insurance company may require updated appraisals on an annual basis, so be prepared to have your jewellery appraised at least every few years.

Not quite the right fit? As part of your purchase we offer one complimentary ring resize.
If your ring needs to be resized above two sizes either way, we recommend that you exchange your ring for a larger size rather than resizing, to protect the long-term structural integrity of your ring.
Please note that we cannot accept pieces that have been worn or resized either by us or another jeweller for exchange or return.
Breakages due to poor care

Fenton will not be liable in relation to breakages which are caused by the impact that the wearer subjects a ring to and not by any manufacturing flaw.
Certain gems, such as Aquamarines and Emeralds, are softer and more prone to breakage than others, so may not be suitable for a more active lifestyle. However even a diamond will break if hit with the right amount of force at the right angle, so always wear your ring with care. Be aware metal can warp, allowing your band to subtly change shape over time, mirroring the finger you wear it on.
Loss of pave band or accent stones is classed under regular wear and tear, and the prongs holding these should be checked regularly as part of ring care and servicing.
