In our newest series of Fenton Love Stories, we wanted to showcase Elaine’s gemstone story with her bespoke Green Sapphire Mayfair ring.
At Fenton, we serve to celebrate love in all its forms. And that (of course) includes self-love! In our newest series of Fenton Love Stories, we wanted to showcase Elaine’s gemstone story. Elaine chose to create a unique and bespoke Fenton piece to celebrate her achievements. And what better way to honour a milestone in your life than with a piece of fine jewellery!

What piece did you choose to create?
“I chose to create a bespoke Green Sapphire and Diamond Mayfair ring”.
Elaine’s Green Sapphire Mayfair ring is an absolute showstopper! This piece is a cluster ring style and features an oval-cut green sapphire centre stone with a halo of brilliant-cut GH/VS Diamonds set in 18k yellow gold.
Green Sapphires are a rarer colour of Sapphires and can come in a range of light yellow-green to a medium ‘olive’ or ‘leaf’ green. Much like other Sapphires, Green Sapphires are a harder and more durable stone, which come at a Mohs scale of hardness of 9 out of 10 and make it suitable for everyday wear. They are also your talisman for tranquillity, loyalty & integrity.
What milestone were you marking?
“I am a mature student and have just recently completed my degree, something which I thought I would never achieve. So, this is a graduation present I wanted to gift from me to me.”
We love that! A sparkling piece of fine jewellery is just the perfect ‘gift to self’, especially for something so deserving.
Why did you choose to design your Green Sapphire ring?
“I was attracted to the idea of a green gemstone. And whilst I love Emeralds, they do not sparkle as much as I wanted. When speaking to the concierge team at Fenton, they suggested that I opt for a Green Sapphire.”
“The stone they sourced for me is unique and does indeed sparkle! It’s beautifully complemented by the high-quality diamonds that surround it. I absolutely adore it!”
Indeed! Emeralds are known and loved for their rich green hue. The naturally occurring ‘Jardin’ of the gemstone is what gives each stone its character. However, the inclusions that are typically found in Emeralds don’t make it the sparkliest of gemstones. On the other hand, the Green Sapphire’s lack of inclusions results in its high degree of clarity allowing it to sparkle so brightly.
Why do you love jewellery?
“I have always loved jewellery and particularly things that sparkle. I simply cannot walk past a jeweller without looking at all the pieces of jewellery on display. It’s come to the point where my family calls me a ‘Magpie’!”

Have you always wanted to build your jewellery collection?
“In my opinion, you can never have too much jewellery. And as an added bonus, fine jewellery is a good investment. I see it as an heirloom you can pass down to your family members for many generations to come.”
Timeless modern heirlooms are such a great investment indeed! Gemstones are naturally formed over millions of years, and once mined, hold their value for generations to come. Its scarcity contributes to its value making it a great investment.
